VMware vCenter Connector

1.1.1

To use this package:

This document describes how you can control virtual machines in VMware® vCenter Server™ infrastructure, by configuring vCenter Server™ Add-on with RES ONE Identity Director.

RES ONE Identity Director uses existing automation functionality in RES ONE Automation to make it possible for end-users to deploy virtual machines from templates, manage snapshots, manage power status, review and change properties and permanently delete virtual machines.

With the RES ONE Identity Director, the administration of VMware vCenter virtual machines can be delegated to end-users via a single point of interaction. This will:

 reduce user-interaction with service desk. End-users can manage their virtual machines life cycle using the RES ONE Identity Director portal, while complying with enterprise IT and security policies.

 enable IT administrators to gain automated control over VMware® vCenter Server™ for their daily workflows.

Use Case 1: Deploy virtual machine from template

This RES ONE Identity Director service enables a user to deploy a new virtual machine using an existing template. Options are given to select the vSphere host, datastore or resource pool, and where to deploy the new virtual machine.

This RES ONE Identity Director service enables users to modify a virtual machine’s properties and apply the new settings.

Use Case 3: Manage virtual machine power states

Use Case 4: Delete virtual machine

This RES ONE Identity Director service enables users to permanently delete a virtual machine.
